Schrock’s Country Store

The bakery side covers bread, sticky buns, and other from-scratch items. There is also a kitchen turning out homemade soups and sandwiches, so the store works for a meal eaten on the spot or carried out as well as for bread to take home. The sticky buns and bread are the baked staples; the soups and sandwiches change what you can do here from a grocery run into lunch.

Beyond the bakery, the store carries jellies, spices, and noodles. These are the kind of shelf-stable items you stock rather than buy for a single meal: jellies for the pantry, spices bought as needed, and dried noodles to keep on hand. Together with the baked goods, they make up most of the food side of the store.

The store also sells furniture, which sets it apart from a straightforward grocery or bakery. Hours are 9AM to 5PM. Payment is cash or check; there is no card reader noted, so bring one or the other if you plan to buy. Call ahead if you are coming for the soups or sandwiches in particular, since prepared food can run out before closing.
