Live directory accountability

What the directory knows—and what it does not

These figures are calculated from the same records used to build the public directory. They show the reach and limits of our verification work instead of turning every listing into an unsupported claim.

Latest dated source-review signal represented in the dataset: September 23, 2026. This is not a claim that every listing was checked on that date.

Current coverage

Counts update when the source dataset changes and the site is rebuilt. Percentages use the 514 active directory listings as the denominator.

Indexable trip-planning records

457 (89%)

Listings that meet the directory threshold for contact or public-business evidence, coordinates, address, operating status, and distinct content.

Matched public business records

459 (89%)

Listings connected to a likely matching public business record. A match identifies a record; it is not owner verification.

Manual source reviews

130 (25%)

Listings with a dated editorial note naming the fields checked and linking to the supporting sources used for that review.

Listings with a usable source link

497 (97%)

Listings with an official website, public profile, or cited review source that readers can open for additional context.

Mapped listings

514 (100%)

Active records with latitude and longitude available for directory mapping and proximity search.

Listings with a phone number

482 (94%)

Active records with a callable number. A published number can still change, so important trip details should be reconfirmed.

Listings with a website

477 (93%)

Active records with a currently retained website link after normalization and broken-link review.

Listings with sourced hours

348 (68%)

Records whose hours come from a dated saved or cited source rather than an older unsourced schedule.

Record-match outcomes

Uncertain records are not quietly presented as verified businesses. Their status affects whether a page can be recommended and indexed.

What the labels mean

Matched is identity evidence

The name, location, contact information, or other signals align with a public record strongly enough to connect the records. It does not mean the owner approved the page.

Manual review is field-specific

Editors record which fields were checked. A cited product range may support the shopping description without establishing current stock, hours, or payment policies.

Indexable is a publication decision

A page must clear data-quality rules before it joins the sitemap. A noindex record may remain available so an owner or visitor can report a correction.

Important limitations

  • Directory inclusion does not establish Amish ownership, religious affiliation, endorsement, or who made an individual product.
  • Ratings and review totals, when shown, are snapshots from a public record and can change after the saved check.
  • Small businesses can change hours, phone numbers, payment methods, product availability, or operating status without notice.
  • Coordinates support route planning but do not replace the business’s current directions, especially for rural properties and market entrances.
  • A source-review date describes a particular review event, not continuous monitoring of every field.

Questions about verification

Does a public-record match mean a store is Amish-owned?

No. A match means the directory connected a listing to a likely public business record. A business name, category, location, or map profile does not by itself establish ownership, religious affiliation, or who made every product.

Why are some listing pages excluded from search results?

The directory uses a minimum publication threshold for indexable store pages. Records can be excluded when they lack usable contact evidence, coordinates, a street address, distinct content, or have an ambiguous, unmatched, held, temporary-closure, or permanent-closure status.

What does a manual source review cover?

Each source-review note identifies the fields checked and links to the evidence used at that time. A product review does not automatically verify current hours, payment methods, inventory, ownership, or every other field on the page.

How can an owner or visitor correct a listing?

Use the correction link on the store page or the contact page. Include the listing URL, the information that should change, and a current official business source when available. Reports are treated as review leads rather than published automatically.

Help improve the evidence

Store owners and recent visitors can report a closure, address change, website, phone number, hours update, or missing store. Include an official source when one is available so the report can be reviewed efficiently.
